The warm winter weather we’ve been having suggests a changing climate, along with “winter robins,” and ruddy ducks still on the pond long after their usual departure date.

The foggy dawns are also a sign. More often than I can remember, I’ve woken recently to a wall of white fog outside my window, impenetrable.

On December 5, 2011, the fog had started out thick. By the time this photo was taken at 7:32 am, it had thinned enough to let a pale, gold sun shine through.
