Overcast sky with dark gray clouds

The Videos

These videos of everyday occurrences seen from the windows of my home are an invitation.
An invitation to slow down and leave behind the constant stimulus and demands of contemporary life.
An invitation to gently place your focused attention on the rhythm and flow of what transpires before you.
An invitation to watch - and to feel - what happens in your own being.

At My Window consists of 15 videos, each 16 to 21 minutes long.

Below are 3 minute excerpts.

Please note: The videos are best seen on a screen or device larger than a cell phone.

  • Screenshot from the video "Extravagance of Crows", showing the sky filled with crows.

    An Extravagance of Crows

    Soundtrack: Fedir Tkachov

View from my dining room window of the late afternoon sky that is filled with murder after murder of crows. Layered over the stark sounds of the cawing crows heard against the street noise below, the soundtrack by Fedir Tkachov transitions from wary to awe-struck.

  • Snowy cityscape with buildings and trees

    Change of Seasons

    Soundtrack: Calvin Isaac Wamser

View from my bedroom window during the change of winter into spring.  At the beginning of the video we see a driving snowstorm, yet less than 20 minutes later we see people on their bicycles riding in the warm sunshine.  The soundtrack by Calvin Isaac Wamser is a tapestry of guitar, piano and vocals.

  • City apartment buildings at dusk with some windows lit, cranes in background

    Evening TV

    Soundtrack: Eli Carlton-Pearson

View from my living room of the neighboring apartment building.  As the early evening light slowly fades, the only notable movement is of a TV and its changing scenes.  The soundtrack by Eli Carlton-Pearson is of a melancholy improvisational acoustic classical guitar.

  • Street scene with fog at night, showing car headlights and building lights glowing through the haze.

    Foggy Night

    Soundtrack: Okkyung Lee

View looking down from my dining room window onto a very foggy street upon which cars and pedestrians pass.  The soundtrack by Okkyung Lee makes use of cello and computer to suggest the memories and emotions of a person sitting at their window.

  • Overcast sky with dense gray clouds

    Grey Day

    Soundtrack: Rare Blood Music

View from my living room window of grey clouds as they slowly pass across the afternoon sky.  The soundtrack by Rare Blood Music made up of a relatively small number of notes and repeating motifs has the depth and feel of a modern classical composition.

  • Cloudy sky over a building with chimneys at dusk

    Late Aftenoon Clouds

    Soundtrack: Oded Ben Izhak

View from my dining room windows of the late afternoon clouds in which we see remnants of the sunset's warm colors.  The freeform jazz solo saxophone soundtrack by Oded Ben Izhak is an intriguing counterpoint.

  • Blue sky with scattered clouds and a small airplane in the distance.

    Life Flight

    Soundtrack: Trē Seguritan Abalos

View from my living room window of blue skies and clouds moving past.  In two separate sequences we see 'Life Flight' helicopters cut across the scene on their way to local hospitals’ emergency rooms.  The soundtrack by Trē Seguritan Abalos is composed of the airy sound of tiers of flutes.

  • View through a rainy window at a blurry cityscape with trees and a building in the background, illuminated by city lights.

    Night Lightning

    Soundtrack: Hillel Reiner

View from my dining room window during a particularly stormy summer night.  We see and hear approximately 90 lightning and thunder strikes during this 20-minute sequence.  The eerie soundtrack by Hillel Reiner of percussion, strings and horns is heard against the resounding thunderclaps.

  • Rain-covered window with city lights in the background at dusk

    Night Rain

    Soundtrack: La-Nai Gabriel

View of a rainy evening seen through the raindrops on my living room window.  In mesmerizing fashion, we watch as the lights, colors and traffic move and change.  The soundtrack by La-Nai Gabriel of instrumentation, environmental sounds and voice, borders on ethereal.

  • Night view of illuminated windows in a dark apartment building.

    Night View

    Soundtrack: AIVA

Night view from my dining room window of the neighboring apartment building.  We observe the inhabitants' movements as they live their quotidian lives.  The symphonic soundtrack was AI-generated by AIVA, a sound technology firm based in Luxembourg.

  • Cityscape at dusk with building silhouettes, birds flying in the sky, and autumn trees.

    Procession

    Soundtrack: Lucia Lilikoi

Late afternoon view from my living room window of a steady procession of crows moving east to west as they head to their overnight roost.  The soundtrack by Lucia Lilikoi of vocals, guitar, singing bowls and bells expresses nature present and alive in an urban environment.

  • Rain on window with blurred view of apartment building in the background

    Rain Dance

    Soundtrack: Dan Cantrell

View of my raindrop-covered living room window with the neighboring building out-of-focus.  We see workers on top of the building moving about in what looks like modern choreography.  The equally graceful and whimsical soundtrack by Dan Cantrell of accordion and clarinet is played in a Klezmer style.

  • Rainy day view through a window with raindrops, looking at a blurred cityscape and tall buildings.

    Rainy Day

    Soundtrack: Beth Goodfellow

View of hard-falling rains on and beyond my living room window during a particularly strong summer storm.  The soundtrack by Beth Goodfellow layers marimba, glockenspiel and vocals over the sounds of the rain and dripping on and along the window anchors us in the moment.

  • Snow-covered street at night with streetlights, cars, and buildings

    Snowy Street

    Soundtrack: David Watson

View from my dining room window down onto a snowy nighttime street. Automobiles and a bicycle carefully navigate and pass through.  The soundtrack by David Watson of layered bagpipe drones, field recordings and guitar mirror and enhance the mood of the scene below.

  • Aerial view of a busy urban intersection with cars and pedestrians on a tree-lined street during autumn, featuring colorful fall foliage and nearby buildings.

    Traffic Jam

    Soundtrack: Chris Peck

View from my living room of the intersection below.  Flowing traffic crawls to a halt as school busses arrive to pick up students after their afternoon release.  The rhythm of the funk style guitar and percussion-based soundtrack created by Chris Peck is in inverse intensity to the movement of the traffic.
